Plus Size Clothing with Various Sleeve Styles

One of the greatest things about plus size clothing and fashion in general is that even small changes to an outfit can make a big difference. Take sleeve style, for instance. You can change the look and feel of your favorite women’s plus size clothing outfits just by changing the sleeve style of the top you wear. Of course, it is important to realize how your sleeves affect your style and to figure out which style is most flattering to your personal figure.

Short sleeves look great during the spring and summer. They are comfortable and cool during the day but still offer some coverage in the evening. It is easy to add a sweater or cover-up to a big size top if you happen to catch a chill at night. Short sleeves usually fall between the upper arm and elbow, so this is where they will naturally draw the eye.

Long sleeves are a bit more formal and offer more coverage if you do not want to show your arms. There are various types of long sleeves, including bell sleeves that widen out towards the wrist. These can create a slimming effect for your arms. If you want a formal plus size clothing look, long sleeves are often a nice choice.

Perhaps the most popular sleeve style for women’s plus size clothing is the ¾ sleeve. They are comfortable all year round and are flattering to most body shapes. Use ¾ sleeves to draw the eye to your waist.

Part of what is great about the modern fashion world is that you can find big size clothing in all styles. If you want to add some fresh new looks to your wardrobe, consider getting plus size clothing tops that feature a variety of different sleeve lengths and styles.

Creating A Great Plus Size Clothing Office Wardrobe

Women have had to fight for years to gain the success that they have achieved in the business world. And the same goes for the world of plus size fashion. It has only been in recent years that plus size clothing has become easy to find. Designers are finally creating all kinds of styles for curvy women in plus sizes. Now the challenge is to make a wardrobe full of stylish, professional clothing that you can use to dress to impress while on the job.

Regardless of whether you spend most of your day in the office or are traveling to business meetings all over the country, you want to always look your best. To do so, you will need to fill your closet with office plus size clothing that is comfortable, well-designed, and easy to care for.

Some women make the mistake of trying to fit into plus size clothing that is the wrong size for them. This is totally unflattering and will make you uncomfortable at work. Instead, choose well-fitting blouses, skirts, pants, and dresses that complement your form without being so tight that they restrict movement or comfort. If you are ordering a new outfit from an online store, be sure to consult their sizing chart before deciding which size to get.

Comfortable Plus Size Clothing

There are many plus size clothing designers, but you need to find those that have the best designs for your professional needs. Tunic tops, button-up blouses, and other tops that are made with high quality fabrics will last longer and look better at work. Choose garments made with fitted seams and adjustable features that you can use to complement your personal shape and style.

Plus Size Clothing for a Spring Transformation

Can you feel spring in the air? Slowly but surely, the weather is getting a bit warmer. Soon the snow will be melted, life and color will come back to the cold world, and spring will be in full bloom.

Spring is the perfect time for a plus size clothing transformation too.

The winter months usually find women bundling up under unflattering coats just trying to stay warm. I love to create layered outfits during the chilly months, but I truly embrace the change that comes with spring. What can you do to bring a fresh spring air to your wardrobe?

Color and Print

Perhaps the greatest transformation for spring is color. Dark coats, sweaters, and boots can be replaced with warm, bright pastels. If you are looking for some inspiration, all you have to do is look around you. As the flowers start blooming again you can get great ideas for new colors that will complement your complexion.

Plus Size Clothing Inspired by Spring

Besides bringing color into your spring wardrobe you can also introduce some lovely floral prints that are inspired by the season. If normal floral prints are not really your style, look for abstract floral designs in woman’s plus size clothing that take advantage of spring-themed colors and patterns in a more subtle way.

Apart from rose, lavender, peach, and other pastel colors spring is also the perfect season to bring white back into your wardrobe. Pastel tunics and tank tops look fabulous with white skirts and pants. If you are headed out to a special occasion, such as a garden party, try pairing a spring-inspired pastel cover-up with a white dress for a stunning look that is sure to get attention.

What’s the Scoop? Necklines for Plus Sizes

What’s the scoop?  Well that could mean – what is the news?, what flavor ice cream you like? or what’s is a scoop neckline.  I am going to be talking about Scoop necklines and that is my flavor of my news.  You know I do like a button-down collar shirt.  I find it classic and simple.  I can go anywhere with it.  I can also leave it unbutton and use it as a separate.  However this kind of neckline for plus size clothing is not very sexy or feminine.  What do you think?  Have you reached in your closet and selected a collar button-down shirt?  And then to your amazement or better judgement you said “NO” …… this is not right for this event.  So you turned to a scoop neckline?  I hope so because most plus size women have lovely necklines.  So why not show it off?

Scoop necklines can be dramatic or simple.  Depending on the event you are dressing for and the style of the plus size top — please choose correctly.  You don’t want to go to church with a deep and wide scoop neckline.  Most of the congregation will think you are competing for the pastor’s wife or even better a vote on the church board!  No.  Wear a higher scoop neckline and not too far away from the center of your shoulder.  I tend to like a length from the top of the collar to the bottom of the scoop to be about 7 1/2″.  Depending on your chest, if you are a bit gifted their and are a 2x or more maybe go for a 9 1/2″ neckline length.

Here are examples of 2 scoop necklines.  One the left is a higher case scoop neckline and on the right (designed by Generous Fashions) we see a lower case scoop neckline.  Both have their advantages.  Try to remember how you want to present yourself at the event you are attending.  It is so easy to make a fashion mistake.

Now go out there and find a scoop neckline that suits you best.  Let me know how you did!

Black and White Clothing:  Season’s Trend

After watching the Academy Awards I was puzzled as to what color may be in this season.  Did you feel the same way?  I do not know about you but I saw a lot of Red Carpet red.  (Diva’s love red.  It’s so HOT)  I think Jennifer wore it the best.  Of course there was a lot of white evening gowns and bit of royal blue.  And then there was the basic black and white dress!  Lovely.  When I read the blogs in Fashion Trends on Google groups I see that Black and White is back.  Where did it go anyway?  Black and white has always been a statement, right?  Isn’t New York City the Black and White apple in fashion?

Well, this season its going to be a fashion clothing print commitment.  Out with the neon and in with the white tops and black pants.  So the good news you probably own have a plus size clothing collection stored faithfully in you garment closet.  You are ready to go and hit the catwalk!

What I like about White and Black is that it is classic.  You can add a bit of white to black and it makes the clothing outfit pop out.  For plus size women it is slimming.  So this is the second good news, we can be in fashion working our basic clothing foundation and look trim.  Do you think the person who was this year’s trend setter might have been a women and more importantly a women with a big size?

Here are some suggestions to be in the Black and White seasonal trend:

1. choose a white tank with a black cover and black pants

2. choose a black bead necklace when wearing a white top

3.  add accessories in black and white (a bit of fake gold helps too or silver)

4.  purchase a black shoe with white tips

Long Sleeve Knit Twist in Black/White

5. add a white silk sash or scarf to your outfit if it is mostly black

What is most important is not to look like you are going to a funeral.  Have fun with it.

I love to hear back from my readers.  Do you have any good tips for wearing black and white?

Plus Size Clothing: Simple Details are Beautiful

There is a lot of plus size clothing and fashion now online.  Prior to 2009, the internet just had a few women’s clothing stores that featured big sizes.  These clothing stores were small operations but with quality fashions. However many offered very loud colors and big prints.  The design of the fabric seemed to be in command.  Even today there are stores that offer big bold prints at reduced prices.   There is not much special about them except the price.  Are you willing to compromise good design and fabric over costs?  Is it better to save a bit more and get something you really like?  I think so.

The key to selecting a plus size garment is in the details.  When you have the funds look for this.   I certainly believe that “Simple details are beautiful”.  Do you agree?  When you observe nature it is not complicated.  For example this rose:

It is simple.  It has just two colors.  Beautiful.  The rose does not need anymore details to express itself.  Now let’s take a look at another rose, similar and compare it to a blouse by Generous Fashions.

Both images are similar.  They use the white background to enhance the other color.  The trim at the neckline is so simple and basic.  The clothing designer brings life to the neckline but not in a loud way.  It is a quiet addition.  The sleeves also add to the harmony of the total blouse.  You do not have to purchase BIG floral prints to make a fashion statement.  It is all in the details.

What kind of details to look for when shopping for clothes:

1. Trim at the neckline

2. Gentle pattern

3. Details at the sleeve

4. Trim at the cuff

5. Contrasting threads

6. Double fabric

7.  Interesting buttons

So go out there and let me know what  you find!  I challenge you to comment on my blog and tell me what you found!
